In association with Rice University Engineering Alumni

As part of the Rice Engineering Alumni Summer Engineering Experience (REA-SEE) initiative, Blade is happy to welcome Eddy Castillo (rising senior), Leticia Souto (rising sophomore), and Rodolfo Garcia (rising junior) this summer.  All three are majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

As part of their internship, which begins on June 13th, they will receive intensive training in engineering thinking and problem solving, particularly as it applies to the energy industry at this time of transition, and will conduct research in Carbon Sequestration and Geothermal Engineering.

Blade has been an active supporter of the REA-SEE program, which was launched in summer 2021. Our Chairman, Suri (Rice PhD ME ’91) is on the REA board of directors, and is an active member of the committee responsible for this initiative.

The goal of this initiative is to give diverse students valuable real experience in engineering, at an early stage of their engineering education. Blade hosted two interns (Damian Gonzales and Caroline Courbois) in 2021, and as the founding participant was the only company to host interns as part of the program. From Damian’s testimonial, it is clear that the experience was transformational and hugely impactful.

This year the REA-SEE program is expanding and Blade will be joined by three other companies in hosting summer interns. A total of seven students will be placed at engineering companies in 2022.
